What the categories mean
The Better Business Awards are run by The Adviser, the main trade publication for Australian mortgage and finance brokers. They are judged on submissions assessed by an independent panel rather than on public voting, which means a finalist placing reflects a view from inside the industry rather than who could rally the most followers.
Judged on the quality of residential lending work: how files are structured, how clients are handled through the process, and the outcomes achieved. This is the category closest to the day to day job, and it is the one we care most about.
Recognises smaller practices competing on quality rather than volume. Boutique is not a euphemism for small here: the category exists because a compact team can give a file attention that a high volume shop structurally cannot.
For practices in their early years, assessed on how the business has been built rather than on how long it has existed. Being a finalist across multiple years in this category tracks the growth of the practice itself.
For practices outside the major capital markets. The Gold Coast has its own lending characteristics, from high density apartment stock to a large self employed population, and this category recognises brokers who understand a specific market rather than a generic one.
What an award does not tell you
Recognition is a signal, not a guarantee. It says other people in the industry looked at how we work and thought it was good. It does not tell you whether we are the right broker for your particular situation, and no award should be the reason you choose one. Ask us about files like yours instead, and judge the answer.
